Abstract:

A session focusing the work of archivists promoting the recordkeeping for good governance message through forging strategic alliances with key public officials such as Auditors, Ombudsmen and Public Service Commissioners. Case studies will be presented from Australia (Mr Des Pearson, Victorian Auditor General) and Papua New Guinea (Mr Rigo Lua, Papua New Guinea Public Service Commissioner). Mr Ross Gibbs will chair the session.

Target audience:
Archivists interested in forging strategic alliances to highlight the linkages between good recordkeeping and good governance.
Overall purpose and significance of session:
To highlight the important connections between records and accountable, efficient and transparent governance and administration. The session will highlight Australian, Papua New Guinea and New Zealand experiences with working with Auditors and Public Service Commissioners to promote good recordkeeping. The session with also feature the PARBICA Recordkeeping for Good Governance Toolkit.
