Abstract:
(This session is sponsored by ARMA INTERNATIONAL) The advent and explosion of the creation and use of electronic records demands new techniques and methods of education and training in how to effectively and efficiently manage these records. Understanding the life-cycle nature of records management while also dealing with the massive volume of electronic documents, e-mail, instant messages and the like, poses new and significant challenges for archival educators, government and business records managers and individuals in all levels of global society. In order to meet these new challenges, new methods of records and archival education focused on managing electronic records throughout the life-cycle process are necessary. This session will explore both the challenges and opportunities at hand and suggest new, innovative methodologies for providing education and training of electronic records and archives management.
