Abstract:
Optical media (CDs, DVDs...) have been widely used for years to store and preserve digital images, but some doubts arise over the future of such media, because of the possible weakness of the market, or because of their technical obsolescence. Many people wonder how to check the quality of recorded CDs or DVDs and how to migrate data. To address this problem, the Direction des Archives de France has made a partnership with a research laboratory, with interesting results.
Target audience:
Anyone interested in digitisation and digital preservation.
Overall purpose and significance of session:
This session will present a partnership between a laboratory and an archival institution to address the problem of optical media.
