Abstract:
Professional associations throughout the world bring together networks of archivists and records managers and represent an important body of expertise and experience. These associations, united in large part by SPA, can and should contribute in a spirit of solidarity and co-operation to the implementation of the ICA's new programme.
Overall purpose and significance of session:
This session will examine the diverse world of professional associations, their concerns, and their possible contributions to international collaborative efforts.
Content description:
The session will consist of two parts. The first will present two or three projects led by young professional associations in Africa and Latin America, illustrating how vital these associations can be. The second part, a round table, will encourage a discussion centered on the role professional associations can play in international cooperation.
